  • Quarter I: Export of cement and clinker dropped sharply in both quantity and value

     

    According to statistics of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, in the first quarter of 2020, the export of cement and clinker dropped sharply, reaching only 7.5 million tons, worth US $ 291 million, equal to 60.2% in volume and 80.8% in volume. Regarding the value compared to the same period in 2019 (in 3 months of 2019, the cement industry has exported 12 million tons, worth USD 360 million).

    Not only a sharp decline in production, export prices of cement and clinker also decreased on average about 2-3 USD / ton due to the general development of the world situation.
     


    The export value of cement and clinker in the first quarter dropped sharply due to the Covid-19 epidemic, reaching only 291 million USD.
     

    In 2019, Vietnam exported 33.8 million tons of cement and clinker to markets around the world, worth US $ 1.394 billion, including nearly 11.6 million tons of cement and 22.6 million tons of clinker. In particular, exports to China reached 16.58 million tons, accounting for 48.9% of the total volume and accounting for 45.2% of total export turnover, equivalent to USD 630 million.

    This is the second consecutive year, the cement industry recorded a record level of exports, continuing to be in the Top of billion-dollar export items. Previously, in 2018, with nearly 32 million tons of export products (up to 11 million tons compared to 2017), worth $ 1,246 billion, Vietnam became a world leader in the export of cement and clinker. .
